About every two minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with lung cancer.

What is lung cancer?

The cancer is designated as lung cancer if it begins in the lung cells. Cancer that begins in the lungs is different from cancer that spreads (metastasizes) to those organs from other parts of the body. Because of this, lung cancer needs to be diagnosed and treated before the cancer can spread elsewhere.
